Location of the action: BiH: Sarajevo macro region – Bosnian-Podrinje Canton and Canton Sarajevo SRB: Zlatibor district
Target groups: 90 small and medium enterprises:

  • Metal works SMEs: 15 from Sarajevo Macroregion and 15 from Zlatibor District
  • Wood manufacturing SMEs: 15 from Sarajevo Macroregion and 15 from Zlatibor District
  • Food processing SMEs: 15 from Sarajevo Macroregion and 15 from Zlatibor District

Number of employees included in activities: 90 employees

40 unemployed persons:

  • 20 from Sarajevo Macroregion and 20 from Zlatibor District
Commencement date and project duration: 1/7/2021, 24 months
Overall objective: The project aims to enhance economic growth and sustainable employment opportunities of industrial SMEs in the cross-border area of Sarajevo Macroregion and Zlatibor District
Specific objective(s): Build and support the growth of green and smart innovation, cooperation and commercialization capacities of SMEs from strategic sectors (e.g. wood manufacturing, food processing and metal works) in Sarajevo Macroregion and Zlatibor District
Estimated results:
  1. Enhanced support for SMEs capacity development and market intelligence for innovation and commercialization of products and services
  2. Enabled easier access to funding opportunities and increased SMEs know-how for application writing
  3. Increased employability of labour force by transfer of know-how for development and manufacturing of innovative products
  4. Facilitated joint cooperation and networking and set-up sector-oriented cross-border innovation networks involving SMEs, research organisations and public authorities
  5. Provided sector-oriented policy recommendations for enhancing the employment opportunities and economic growth of SMEs through green and smart innovations and product and services commercialization
Main activities

(in relation to the estimated results of the action):

WP1.1.  Consolidate and manage dynamics of Project Partnership for effective long-term collaboration

WP1.2.  Analyse the regional innovation status and industry priorities for each strategic sector with focus on green and smart solutions

WP1.3.  Evaluate market intelligence, innovation and commercialization capabilities of cross-border small and medium enterprises

WP1.4.  Develop, test and evaluate Market Intelligence pilot services for supporting cross-border SMEs capacity development for innovation and commercialization of products and services

WP1.5.  Provide support for strategic product/service and process development of cross-border small and medium enterprises

WP2.1.  Develop, test and evaluate Public Funding Screening pilot services for supporting cross-border SMEs to jointly gain and seize opportunities for financing their innovations

WP3.1.  Harmonization of cross-border education system for metal processing technicians with SMEs needs

WP3.2.  Building practical and theoretical skills, knowledge and experience of metal processing technicians to increase their chances for employment

WP4.1.  Mapping of cross-border stakeholders, contacting and engaging into networking and supporting economic growth of SMEs

WP4.2.  Develop, test and evaluate B2B Networking pilot services for supporting cross-border cooperation, collaboration and transfer of knowledge and experience among SMEs

WP4.3.  Pioneer first cross-border sector-oriented networks of SMEs and support organizations/ institutions

WP5.1. Develop two policy papers for enhancing the employment opportunities and economic growth of SMEs by extracting conclusions from testing of pilot services and feedback gathered from SMEs
