Within the project “Cross-border network of natural heritage – CBC Nature NET”, two workshops were held on May 27, 2021 at the Faculty of Forestry, University of Belgrade, in the Faculty Arboretum. The arboretum is a protected natural area managed by the Faculty
The workshops were attended by 20 participants from various institutions: Institute of Forestry, Faculty of Forestry, PE “Vojvodinašume”, Hunting Chamber of Serbia, Chamber of Forestry Engineers of Serbia, hunting ground “Surcin”, Secretariat for Environmental Protection of the City of Belgrade and several NGOs.
The first workshop “Sustainable Tourism and Nature Protection” was held in the morning hours. The workshop was held by two lecturers, Dr. Aleksandar Vasiljevic and Aleksandar Panic.
Dr. Aleksandar Vasiljević conducted a lecture of the deductive type. After that, Aleksandar Panić from the organization “Let’s Defend the Rivers of Stara Planina” presented to the participants the potentials and possibilities of ecological tourism on the example of Stara Planina in a lecture of an inductive character.
In the second part of the day, “Development of new tourist offers” workshop was held by Nikola Vojinović, B.Sc. eng. of Forestry and Vesna Šabanović, B.Sc. Landscape Architecture Engineer from the Secretariat for Environmental Protection of the City of Belgrade. Through an innovative way, Nikola Vojinović introduced the workshop participants to the challenges of harmonizing hunting management with other human activities. In the second part of the lecture, he presented proposals for overcoming current issues and ways of further development of tourist offers in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. Vesna Šabanović pointed out the challenges in nature protection in an anthropogenic environment and offered alternative solutions.
At the end workshops, a discussion of the participants was opened.
