The European Union continues to finance the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III). For the programme period 2021-2027, a total of EUR 14 million in grants was provided with the aim of continuing to strengthen socio-economic development in the cross-border area between the Republic of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the previous programing periods, more than 23 million euros was approved for a total of 75 projects. In the 2014-2020 program period, through ongoing projects, institutions and organizations from the cross-border area of the partner countries continue to be given the opportunity to establish or renew mutual cooperation in solving problems in their local communities.
It is envisaged that the goals of the just published First Call for Project Proposals will be realized through two thematic priorities:
Priority 1: Investing in youth, education and skills,
Priority 2: Encouraging tourism and cultural and natural heritage.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina: municipalities of Brčko District (BiH), Gradačac, Doboj Istok, Gračanica, Srebrenik, Čelić, Lopare, Ugljevik, Donji Žabar, Domaljevac-Šamac, Modriča, Odžak, Osmaci, Banovići, Bijeljina, Brod, Bratunac, Han Pijesak, Kalesija, Kladanj, Lukavac, Milići, Orašje, Pelagićevo, Petrovo, Sapna, Srebrenica, Šamac, Šekovići, Teočak, Tuzla, Vlasenica, Vukosavlje, Zvornik, Živinice, Trnovo RS, Istočna Ilidža, Istočno Novo Sarajevo, Vogošća, Istočni Stari Grad , Vareš, Visoko, Fojnica, Višegrad, Rogatica, Sokolac, Pale, Pale (FBiH), Novo Goražde, Rudo, Čajniče, Goražde, Foča (FBiH), Foča, Kalinovik, Trnovo, Hadžići, Ilidža, Novi Grad Sarajevo, Stari Grad Sarajevo, Ilijaš, Breza, Kiseljak, Kreševo, Olovo, Sarajevo Centar, Novo Sarajevo.
With this Call for project proposals, EU funds in the amount of 9 million euros have been determined, which will be awarded in the form of a donation (non-reimbursable financial assistance), whereby the beneficiaries provide, in the form of co-financing, a minimum of 15% of the total budget of the proposed project from their own sources, or from funds that are not from the budget of the European Union. The minimum donation amount under the contract is 180.000 euros, while the maximum amount is 600.000 euros. The deadline for submitting Concept Notes is January 10th, 2025.
In order to better inform interested parties about how to apply and find partners from the other side of the border, the Joint Technical Secretariat, in cooperation with the Central Unit for Contracting and Financing at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of European Integration of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Directorate for European Integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina, will organize following events:
