The specific objectives of the project: Improving conditions for development of beekeeping in the border municipalities of Prijepolje and Gorazde
Activities and results of the project
The main goal of the project was to enforce the beekeeping associations and introduce their members to the modern technologies. It was met lectures, seminars and trainings for beekeepers and fruit producers, study visits and good practice presentations.
The Joint Cross-border Beekeeping Committee was founded during project implementation. Beekeepers have had the opportunity to exchange their experience and knowledge on long run period. Their future participation on the fairs was developed. Project activities involved: joint appearance and presentation members of the association of beekeepers from Gorazde and Prijepolje on the National Honey Fair in Sarajevo, the Exhibition “Honey is a cure for long life” in Prijepolje, two tribunes in Goražde and Prijepolje with about 100 participants, two day training for 19 members of beekeeping associations and 11 members of fruit growers association.
Keep on mind that Standardization of honey and other bee products is one of the most important topics. It was organized seminar with the aim to present legal procedures, regulation and standardization of businesses.
The promotion of the project was carried out through the press conferences, broadcast on local TV, visits to the kindergartens, dissemination of various promotional materials. Wider public were informed about the importance of beekeeping and the significance of bees in protecting the environment and the benefits of bee products to human health.
Improving conditions for development of beekeeping contributed to produce the better image of implementing area.
