Within the project “Support to cooperation, inclusion, education and the promotion of Roma culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia SA-ŠA”, funded by the EU within the framework of Cross-border cooperation program CBC B&H-Serbia and implemented by the City of Sarajevo and the National Council Roma National Minority-regional office Sabac, the cultural evening dedicated to Roma people were held in Sabac on 18.09. 2013.
Representatives of project partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina – Sarajevo Regional Development Agency SERDA and Hilfswerk Austria International, together with representatives of Roma NGOs from Bosnia and Herzegovina, attended this event.
The event also included an exhibition of paintings of important Roma painters and classical music and Roma poetry. The program also included a presentation about the life and work of Sofka Nikolic, the most important Roma singer of all times, and a concert of Roma music that impressed everyone present. The whole event was attended by many persons and resulted in great interest of the public.
This occasion was also used to convene a meeting of representatives of Roma NGOs from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia who will be part of the SA-ŠA network and to exchange basic information on the work, situation at the communities, etc
