Within the project “Social integration through parasport – Parainspired!”, A vehicle, 10 wheelchairs and sports equipment for training of para-athletes were purchased. The total value of the equipment is 70,000 EUR.
Mr. Vladimir Batez, Provincial Secretary for Sport and Youth opened the conference and highlighted the importance of this project for the development of recreational and competitive sports between persons with disabilities.
“For the first time, our Paralympic athletes have a vehicle, which is adequately equipped. The vehicle will serve for transportation athletes on the competitions, training and other activities,” Mr Batez said, reminded that they win two gold medals and four silver medals on the last European Championship.
Also, Mr Batez stressed that is important to use the EU funds through CBC Programmes, because they have a modest budget in regard to needs.
The project aims to increase the participation of persons with disabilities in sports activities in the border region, also to create better conditions for greater accessibility of sports infrastructure to persons with disabilities.
The promotion of the project was held at the Sports Fair and was attended by the Paralympic meddle winner as well as representatives of sports organizations of disabled people. Otherwise, the project “Parainspired!” is promoted by Zlatko Kessler, the best Paralympians in the world, who is the head of the Paralympic Union of Vojvodina and by Borislava Peric Rankovic – the best table tennis player in the world.
