On the occasion of Europe Day and European Week in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a promotional event organised by the Directorate for European Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held in Trebinje on Thursday, 7 May 2026. The event presented the results of projects implemented with the financial support of the European Union.
The event was organised to mark the launch of a new subpage titled “Success Stories on the Use of European Union Financial Assistance in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, which presents concrete results of territorial cooperation projects, their effects in local communities, and examples of good practice by beneficiaries from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The subpage includes the sections Success Stories, Photo Stories and Interactive Map. Through these contents, more than 280 territorial cooperation projects implemented at 350 locations are presented, along with stories about beneficiaries, project results and changes achieved thanks to the support of the European Union.
Projects implemented through the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Serbia–Bosnia and Herzegovina also have a special place within this content, including projects from the 2nd and 3rd Calls for Proposals. Their results were presented through digital content, as well as through an exhibition of photo stories in printed form, displayed during the promotional event.
Among the presented projects of the Programme Serbia–Bosnia and Herzegovina were:
- Old Railways for New Cooperation and New Experiences – Banovići Ćiro Railway
- Healthy and safety gastronomic products as potential for new employment
- Improve employability of people from vulnerable groups through provision of new knowledge and skills
- Services for Newly Established Start-up Enterprises – NESESER
- Eco Tourism in the Cross-border Area between Serbia and BIH: Cross border BIRDWATCHING
The Director of the Directorate for European Integration of BiH, Elvira Habota, stated that the new subpage was created with the aim of bringing the results of the use of European Union financial assistance closer to citizens and presenting the achievements of beneficiaries within eight territorial cooperation programmes. She emphasised that, in the previous financial perspective, beneficiaries had approximately BAM 76.5 million at their disposal, while in the current perspective this amount has already exceeded BAM 117 million.
The promotional event was an opportunity to present, through concrete examples, the contribution of territorial cooperation projects to the development of local communities, preservation of cultural heritage, improvement of tourism, employment, social inclusion and strengthening of beneficiaries’ capacities.
