Within the project “Development of rural tourism as a basis for future sustainable development in the cross-border region of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, a project press conference was held on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, starting at 11:00 a.m., at the Brezik Hunting Lodge in Klupci, near Loznica.
The project aims to improve hunting and rural tourism and to strengthen cross-border cooperation between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina by creating conditions for tourist arrivals, preserving natural resources, and supporting local economic development.
The project was presented to the media by Vlado Planinić, Local Development Officer of the project from Han Pijesak, who emphasized that interest in non-conventional forms of tourism has been steadily increasing, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There is a growing demand for nature-based stays and active holidays. People are increasingly seeking peace, authentic experiences, and direct contact with nature – all of which are offered by rural and hunting tourism,” Planinić stated. He added that the core of the project is to put the natural resources and hunting potential of Loznica and Han Pijesak into the function of sustainable development, while preserving the environment and strengthening the local economy.
Momir Obradinović, President of the Hunting Association of Loznica, highlighted that the project has delivered concrete infrastructure results.
“Two accommodation apartments and a meeting hall have been constructed, which is of great importance for organizing commercial hunts, hosting guests from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for other types of events,” Obradinović said.
The manager of the Loznica hunting ground, Vladan Vasić, emphasized that special attention in this hunting area is given to the preservation and enhancement of wildlife populations.
“Our key characteristic is investment, with minimal culling. We have three breeding facilities – for wild boar, pheasants, and European red deer. It is particularly significant that the red deer has returned to the Loznica hunting ground after more than one hundred years,” Vasić noted.
Speaking about visitors from the region, Vasić underlined that procedures for hunters from Bosnia and Herzegovina are simple.
“When crossing the border, it is sufficient to present a hunting invitation, which allows the transport of weapons. For those who do not come for hunting purposes, the area offers numerous natural and tourist attractions,” he added.
The project has ensured adequate accommodation capacities, including two apartments with a total capacity of eight guests and a conference hall with 40 seats. These facilities can be used not only by hunting tourists, but also by other visitors and organized groups.
“We are confident that the project will contribute to an increase in the number of visitors from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the strengthening of hunting tourism, and the generation of additional income for the association. We are grateful to the City Administration of Loznica, which was a project partner and provided significant financial support,” Vasić concluded.
Through its activities, the project contributes to stronger cross-border ties, sustainable use of natural resources, and the development of rural areas within the programme area.
