\u00a0Project objective<\/strong>
\nThe project aims to improve communication and cooperation between
\nlocal communities and organizations in Priboj \u2013 Rudo cross-border area
\nby upgrading the Manifestation \u201cInternational Lim Biathlon\u201d, traditionally
\nheld at the end of August.<\/p>\n

Activities<\/strong>
\nThe Biathlon gathers people of various ethnic, religious and age groups.
\nIn the time of global economic crisis and alienation, this event is a unique
\nopportunity for people to socialize, to meet new people and build good
\nneighbourly relations. The project has contributed to strengthening communication
\nbetween people who live in the Priboj-Rudo cross-border area
\nand has enhanced interethnic, educational, cultural and sport cooperation.
\nThe target groups of the project were: athletes, young people from 18 to
\n25 years, nature devotees and fishermen.
\nAs the main event of the Biathlon is rafting on the Lim River, all necessary
\nsafety equipment was acquired, including rafting boats, helmets, life vests,
\noars, safety and security and rescue boats. New equipment will be used in
\nyears to come, ensuring enhanced safety and quality for all Biathlon participants.
\nBy procuring the necessary safety equipment, capacities of the
\nTourism Organization Priboj and Municipal Development Agency Rudo to
\norganise similar manifestations on the Lim River have increased. As such
\nthey will ensure improvement of touristic offer and promotion in these
\ndeveloping border areas.
\nIn addition, the project activities entailed cleaning of the river and the
\nriver banks. Procured boats and other necessary equipment enabled
\nsome unreachable places along the river banks to be successfully cleaned.<\/p>\n

One of the main issues during the project implementation was ensuring
\nfree movements of participants across state borders, as the River Lim runs
\nthrough both countries. Thanks to an excellent cooperation between border
\nauthorities of both countries, this issue was successfully resolved and
\nparticipants of the Biathlon could cross the borders without problems.
\nThis project revived an old tradition and made it popular again. A biking
\nrace and a number of rock concerts followed the rafting event, which
\nraised attendance and popularity of this event. Tourism Organization Priboj
\nand Municipal Development Agency Rudo plan to make further improvements
\nin organisation of future Biathlons.<\/p>\n
