Project objective
\nThe objective of the project is to improve environmental protection and
\nminimize the negative impact of waste on the local environment.
\nActivities
\nUb and Modri?a Municipalities have introduced a system of primary separation
\nof waste and encouraged the development of the recycling sector
\nto prevent the deterioration of health of people and animals, improve the
\nwaste management system and raise awareness of environmental protection
\nin the cross-border region. Utility and other companies gained new
\nopportunities to expand their business activities and the final users can
\nfeel the benefits of improved waste collection, which will motivate them
\nto adopt a proactive attitude towards environmental protection. In addition,
\nother new possibilities regarding waste selection and composting
\nare also emerging.
\nThe main target group and final beneficiaries of the project are citizens
\nof Modri?a and Ub Municipalities who are educated through the project
\nabout the necessity of selective waste disposal and the importance<\/p>\n

of recycling. The project was presented at the Fair of Local Authorities of
\nSouth-East Europe, NEXPO in Sarajevo in March 2011 and at the club of
\nthe UB Cultural Centre in May 2011.
\nWaste management system has been set up so that utility companies
\ncontinue with these activities after the end of the project. The established
\ncooperation between different sectors will ensure further progress on the
\ntopic of waste management. This project is a piece of a large puzzle \u2013 ongoing
\nnational environment awareness campaigns in both partner countries.
\nAs such, we have valid reasons to believe that the issue of waste
\nmanagement will become a state priority.<\/p>\n
