Caritas International Belgium has organized on 3rd and 4th of December 2013, in Ecofutura center in the village Hreša, near Sarajevo, a workshop for partners in various projects, whose goals are rural development in the Balkans.

During the two days, participants had the opportunity to become better acquainted with the projects implemented in the past 10 years by the local Caritas offices, in cooperation with partners, in the region. A number of projects in the fields of: rural tourism, aid to the people in rural areas, agriculture development and social protection were implemented.

Caritas Šabac  and Caritas BC BiH presented its current project “Strengthening professional adult  in rural areas”, which is implemented within the second IPA call – Cross Border Programme Serbia – Bosnia and Herzegovina, funded by the European Union from the pre-accession IPA funds and co-financed by the Caritas International Belgium. Representatives of Caritas Šabac and Caritas BK BiH, the partners in the project, used their stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina to hold meetings related to the project.

The two-day workshop was considered more than a success by the participants who had the opportunity to get to know each other better, to connect and expand cooperation. In the future, Caritas International Belgium will continue to implement projects intended for the development of rural areas and rural tourism.

This event had a strong cross-border character, as representatives of several organizations, from different sides of the border of the cross-border area, have participated.
